The Patrol Division is under the direction of Lieutenant Randy DeAnda and Lieutenant
Joe Cirilo. The Patrol Divison is divided into five patrol
teams. Patrol Officers work a 3-12 work schedule with one
10 hour payback day per month.
The Patrol Division is comprised of the officers assigned
to uniformed patrol which are the first to respond to calls
for assistance in the community. This would include the Traffic
Unit, Code Enforcement Team, Special Weapons and Tactics Team
(SWAT), K-9 Teams, and Reserve Officers. The Patrol Division
operates 365 days a year, twenty-four hours a day.

The Traffic
Unit,which consists of eight officers and
one sergeant, has the responsibility of enforcing the
traffic laws and investigating traffic collisions throughout
the City. This unit is augmented by a Commercial Enforcement
Officer who's primary responsibility is the enforcement
of commercial laws. |
The
Special Weapons
and Tactics Team (SWAT) is a very specialized
response team consisting of officers throughout the Department.
The SWAT Team is used on high risk situations including
warrant service, barricaded suspects, and other situations
which require specialized training and equipment. The
members of this team are highly trained and experienced

The K-9
Teams are an essential part of the Operations
Bureau, as they are responsible for assisting in a variety
of functions. The K-9's assist in area searches, long
tracks for suspects or lost persons, locating objects
at a crime scene, officer protection, and the apprehension
of fleeing suspects. RPD's K-9 Teams are supported by
"The Friends of Rialto Police K9's Inc." |

The Dispatch Center for the Rialto Police Department receives requests for police and emergency services over the telephone. They also answer all 9-1-1 calls, to include Police, Fire and Medical. Communications personnel are responsible for screening and prioritizing requests to maintain constant radio contact with police personnel and dispatch, as necessary, police and other emergency units in response to calls for service or requests from officers in the field. |

The Humane Services section is responsible for handling animal related calls for the City. The Human Services section is staffed by three full-time Animal Control Officers. |

| Reserve Police Officers assist and support the Patrol Division in a number of capacities such as assisting police officers with patrol duties, conducting patrol in specified areas, providing police presence at various community functions, transportation of prisoners and crime scene security and many other functions. |
