Specialized Services Division
The Specialized Services Division consists of units of the department that provide additional support services for the Patrol Division. The Specialized Services Division consists of the Investigations Unit, Multiple Enforcement Team (MET), Auto Theft Task Force (SANCATT), Narcotics team and the Court Liaison Officer.
The Investigations Unit currently has seven detectives. Each detective has an investigative area of expertise, to include: homicides, assaults, sexual assaults, crimes against children, burglary and auto theft. The unit is supervised by Sergeant R. Burkholder. Also assigned to the unit is a division secretary and court liaison officer.
The Multiple Enforcement Team focuses on gang related criminal
activity in Rialto. This includes investigating all gang related
crimes including graffiti. This team has been highly recognized
throughout the State as being one of the most innovative and
active gang suppression teams. For more on this team's activity,
please visit our MET
Page.
The San Bernardino County Auto Theft Task Force (SANCATT)
is comprised of officers and investigators from various San
Bernardino County agencies. The taskforce was implemented
to combat the rise in auto theft throughout the Inland Empire.
One officer from the Rialto Police Department is assigned
to this taskforce.
The Narcotics Team focuses on narcotic related criminal activity in Rialto.
The Court Liaison Officer is responsible
for case filings, subpoena control, and probable cause declarations.
This officer files felony cases with the District Attorney's
Office. The program minimizes the "dead time" investigators
spend in the courthouse waiting for an available district
attorney. This officer saves the City overtime expenses by
keeping in contact with court officials and arranging for
the cancellation of subpoenas for officers not needed in court.
As with all other divisions within the Police Department, we are here to serve our community. Should you have any questions, feel free to contact Sergeant R. Burkholder at (909) 820-2632.
